Why not use public transport on holiday?
Cities the world over are congested, polluted and have major parking problems and the "green" merits of using public transport for daily commuting are well accepted. As a visitor, why not use local buses and trains in preference to a hire car? Not only will you be eco-friendly, you'll also have the opportunity of interacting with local people which will add a new dimension to your holiday.
Discounts of up to 1/3 are available on rail fares in the UK if you hold a railcard. There is a small fee payable for the card, easily recouped when you buy your rail tickets. Railcard holders are also offered other discounts on other products such as package holidays, hotel stays and days out.
